XDEV Partner at the "5G4HC Hackathon" of the OTH Amberg-Weiden

XDEV is implementation partner of the OTH Amberg-Weiden at the 5G4HC Hackathon. This means that we advise the participants on the technical implementation of the hackathon challenges. XDEV CEO Richard Fichtner is also a member of the jury.

But what exactly is it all about? What does 5G4HC stand for?

5G4Healthcare is a research project at OTH Amberg-Weiden, which was launched at the end of 2019 and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure as part of the 5G Innovation Program. It is scheduled to continue until December 31, 2022.

Tele-surgery, video consultations or real-time ECG transmission from ambulances – 5G is faster, more stable and more reliable, enabling the transmission of high volumes of data in real time. As in other industries, 5G technologies are expected to drive digitization in healthcare while providing the basis for innovative medical services and applications.

So 5G4Healthcare is all about using innovative solutions to explore how patients and healthcare providers in rural areas can benefit from the new 5G mobile communications standard.

At the hackathon – a collaborative software and hardware development event - work is being done on precisely this real-world issue, a so-called challenge. The concrete goal of the "5G4HC Hackathon" is thus to develop prototypes and concepts to transform healthcare using 5G technology.

The event already started on October 20th and runs until mid-January. Cool prizes await the winners.

  • Oct. 22 & 23, 2021 – Kickoff
  • Nov. 19, 2021 – Pitch training, coach sessions01
  • Jan. 14, 2022 – Final of the Hackathon

The XDEV team is looking forward to the task and is already excited about the ideas of the participants. We are proud to support the OTH Amberg-Weiden in this important future topic.
