Docker Captain: Recognition for Community Engagement and Container Expertise

We are pleased to announce that Johannes Rabauer, Senior Software Engineer at XDEV, has been accepted into the Docker Captains Program. This appointment is a special recognition from the international Docker community and reflects values that have been important at XDEV for many years: sharing knowledge, applying technology in practice, and staying engaged with fellow developers.

What Is a Docker Captain?

Docker Captains are experienced professionals who actively share their knowledge with the community and are recognized for their commitment to Docker, containerization, and cloud-native technologies. The program includes selected experts from around the world who contribute to the Docker ecosystem through conference talks, technical articles, open-source work, and community activities.

More Than Just Containers

Over the past years, Docker has become an integral part of modern software development. Containerized applications, reproducible development environments, and automated deployments are now standard practice in many projects. Being accepted into the Docker Captains Program therefore represents not only technical expertise, but also a commitment to sharing practical experience and actively contributing to the developer community.

At XDEV, this practical focus is reflected, among other things, in the XDEV Testcontainers Infrastructure (TCI) Framework. This open-source library extends Testcontainers with practical features for efficiently managed test environments, including infrastructure templates, unique container naming, and enhanced network management.

Sharing Knowledge Is Part of XDEV's DNA

Conference talks, technical articles, open-source projects, and community events have been part of everyday work at XDEV for many years. Exchanging ideas and experiences with other developers is an important aspect of what we do—not only within the Java ecosystem, but also across related technologies and communities.

For our customers, this exchange delivers real value. It helps us identify emerging technologies early, bring international best practices into projects, and develop solutions that are technically sound and aligned with the wider community.

We are therefore especially pleased about this Docker Captain appointment. It once again highlights the important role that community engagement plays in modern software development.
