THE festival of the German-speaking Cloud Native community is coming up! For four days, from June 29 to July 2, 2022, everything will revolve around container & cloud technologies, continuous integration & delivery, microservices & DDD, and DevOps & methodology at CloudLand in Phantasialand in Brühl near Cologne.

Our Richard Fichtner will also be there, bringing his talk "Scale to Zero with Java and save the planet (and your wallet)".

And that's what it's about:
Java applications are widely used and often several years old. You can use these applications in the cloud via lift-and-shift (which is pointless) or you rewrite the application in cloud-native style and use the advantages of the cloud.
An alternative for existing applications is missing here. It must be possible to go to the cloud and use advantages such as serverless and scale-to-zero WITHOUT having to rewrite the application.
Richard shows what is already working well today and where problems need to be tackled. In the talk, an existing application is transfered into the cloud and over 70 % of operations and maintenance costs are saved with Serverless and Scale-to-Zero.
