From May 12-15, the 10th edition of JCON Europe took place in Cologne. Participants from over 60 countries and 5 continents gathered at Cinedom to experience the latest trends and developments in the Java ecosystem. The conference offered not only exciting talks and practical workshops but also numerous opportunities for personal exchange and community collaboration.
XDEV, as a co-organizer and sponsor, was naturally right in the middle of the action. Our new Commit Cards were particularly popular, which we distributed for free. These cards serve as a small but effective reminder for clean and sustainable code on every developer's desk.
The Highlight: Anniversary Recognition
Our highlight was the recognition of the JCON team by Oracle for the 10th anniversary of the event, presented by Sharat Chander, the Java Community Lead at Oracle. This recognition honors the ongoing work of JCON, which has long been established as an important meeting point for the Java community.
Live Coding and Community
In 2025, the focus was again on live coding, where the audience could follow the talks of high-profile speakers on large cinema screens in real-time. The keynotes and workshops provided valuable insights into the latest developments in the Java world and offered practical solutions for everyday work. We are particularly proud of the relaxed atmosphere that brings the community together – even the shyest developers!
A big thank you to the entire JCON team, the speakers, and all the participants who made this JCON a true success once again. And for the next JCON Europe, be sure to mark April 20–23, 2026 in your calendar!
